A clean aesthetic was the overall arching standard for Interweave’s magazines. I art directed, established mood boards, hired models, and often collected props for styling photos. These covers covered a combination of those aspects.

This is a series of layouts from PieceWork magazine, a historical needlework publication. My goal was to feature front and center the amazing craft and artistry of these handmade pieces.

Handwoven magazine’s focus was for the weaver to view the piece in a real life setting while clearly seeing the weave structure. On these opening project spreads I successfully combined those objectives together.

The Business Council’s Why Wyoming magazine is a recruitment publication handed out at trade shows. To increase engagement we featured successful company profiles so prospect companies would rethink relocating their business. For the NoSo feature I emulated the fun nature of the product, which are shaped patches for outdoor gear. It won honorable mention at the Wyoming Press Association 2019.

Set Your Sights on Wyoming magazine is a recruitment publication handed out at the Shot Show. Stories of successful Wyoming manufactures helped out-of-state companies realize the potential in relocation. It won 3rd place at the Wyoming Press Association 2019.

This knitting magazine explored the creative world of Harry Potter and applied its inspirational and imaginative storyline to current knitwear design. I infused its character into the layout through art direction, texture, natural and classic elements, and typography. It sold out due to popularity and was reprinted.

Mood boards were created that explained details to stylists of how/what projects would be worn and what style of hair and makeup were preferred. Well thought out color palettes, locations, props, and cover options were explored. It was a key tool for strategizing during team meetings and thumbnail sketches helped define layout choices.
